Handmade quilted tree skirts are hugely popular during the holidays. They’re functional, decorative, and add a little extra something to the living room decorations. And the design of this quilted tree skirt really caught my eye!!

Designed by Megan Downer for Studio E Fabrics, this festive tree skirt measures 48″ in diameter. In case you didn’t know yet, Nana likes to find those fabulous patterns that are hiding in the archives. Because this pattern was written in 2014, the fabric collection used in this pattern is no longer available but, as usual, we have found some fabulous alternatives in the 2019 collections.
To make the quilted tree skirt you will need the following supplies:
- 7/8 yard of Color A for blocks and binding
- 1/4 yd each of Color B and Color F
- 5/8 yd of Color C
- 3/8 yd of Color D
- 2 yd of Color E
- 3 – 1/4 yd of backing
- 56″ x 56″ of batting
- Coordinating thread

Hi! I printed out the pattern at 200%, but I think that was incorrect given the templates are bigger than the 4 inch squares for Fabric B. Can you please confirm the length of each side of the triangle for Template 1 &2. Also for the blade template what are the dimensions. Your help is much appreciated given I’m ready to cut and piece and then ran into this road block. Very excited to make it.

I, like Noel, believe that the 200% enlargement is larger than the 4″ sq for Fabric B. What is the length of each side of the triangle for template 1 & 2? What are the dimensions or the blade template? I love this pattern!!

I am sorry but I have lost all my archived messages. I believe that the templates appear they don’t fit because of the angle in which you have to sew them together. Please remember that because you are at an angle there are “tabs” that overlap. Hope this makes sense.

“Sorry, I have not made this tree skirt. I did do the measurements and can see your dilemma. The diagonal of your 4 inch square is only about
5-3/4 inches, while the longest side of the template triangles are 6 inches long. If you have not already cut the 4 inch squares, I would suggest making them about 1/2 inch bigger. If you have already cut the
4 inch squares, remember that when sewing Template 1 to Template 2, you will be cutting off a lot of the points. Therefore, you really don’t
need the full amount of the long points on the template. You can cut off the overlap on the template. Lay the template on the blade and you can
see how the point overlaps. I have attached a picture. This should work because the template will only be about 5 inches on the long side of the triangle”
