This poncho was made with Lion Brand Homespun yarn. Homespun is one of Lion Brand’s classic yarns. Over the years crafters have fallen in love with its extraordinary texture and variegated colors. A uniquely textured yarn that works up quickly and easily. The lavender color #390 specified in the pattern is no longer available, but there are still plenty of gorgeous shades to choose from.

Homespun is a Bulky Weight Size 5 yarn, but, if you prefer, this kids size poncho pattern can also be made using a lighter worsted weight (size 4) yarn. The yarn specified in this version of the pattern has been discontinued but you can substitute any worsted weight yarn. You will need 3 skeins and a Size K/10.5 (6.5mm) crochet hook.

To make this kid size poncho you will need the following supplies:

• 2 skeins (3 for size 8) of Lion Brand Homespun yarn or equivalent
• Size N/13 (9mm) crochet hook
• A fat quarter of coordinating fabric for the top edging
• Two 15 inch squares of Insul-Bright
• 7 inches of Velcro
