Designed by Natalie Crabtree for Windham Fabrics, the finished quilt measures 51 inches x 51 inches. The pattern is rated intermediate and some knowledge of applique will be helpful. If you want to learn to applique, Nana published a tutorial entitled “Learn to Applique” on her sister site What’s Nana Making?

Dresden Plates for Blocks are created in 6 colorways. Whole Dresden Plates for the center of the quilt are created using 8 Dresden Blades (petals) from each of 2 fabrics (totaling 16 blades). Full templates are included with the FREE pattern download.

The designer used fabric from the Harpersfield collection by Whistler Studios. As you know, fabric collections are only available for a short time and I had trouble finding any of this collection remaining.

I do, however, think this quilt would look great using the new “Walk in the Park” collection from Connecting Threads

To make the Pirouette quilt, you will need the following supplies:

  • 3 yds of background fabric
  • 1-1/2 yds of white or ivory for the “petals”
  • 3/8 yd of 6 of your favorite fabrics for the “petals”
  • 1/4 yd of 2 color fabrics for the centers of the flowers
  • 3-1/4 yds of backing fabric – see Nana’s post on how to create a stunning quilt backing.
  • 59″ x 59″ batting
  • Fusible Web for Applique
  • Coordinating thread
