First, Lion Brand Yarns designed this gown and bonnet for a baby 3-9 months and is rated for experienced crocheters.
Although the yarn used in the directions is no longer available you may substitute any Weight 3 yarn. Try it with Lion Brand Baby Soft in pure white. You will need two 5 oz. balls. (Approximately 850 yards)
Second, I found this fabulous pattern for the Little Cherub Gown on Love Crochet. This dress and bonnet are perfect for a precious baby’s christening day. The pattern also includes a blanket which is crocheted from the center out to the borders and features pretty lace patterning.
Directions are for two sizes – Newborn and size 3 to 6 months. To make this gown and blanket you will need 6 balls of Red Heart Baby Hugs Light or equivalent Size 3 weight yarn. If you only want to make the gown and bonnet, only 3 balls are required.
Lastly, let’s not forget the boys! Some prefer to have their boys dressed in Christening or Baptism gowns, but for those that don’t, Red Heart Yarns designed this lovely set. Also available from Love Crochet.
Sweater, booties and hat are designed to fit an infant 0-6 months. The pattern uses a shell stitch and is written for intermediate crocheters. To make the set you will need 6 balls of Red Heart Soft yarn or equivalent Size 4 yarn.
