Layer Cake Pillow – Free Pattern

Today, I found a fabulous FREE pattern for a Layer Cake Pillow that I want to share with you.

Have you heard of Layer Cakes? Some manufacturers call them 10″ Stacks, Ten Packs, Mini-Crystals…. but basically they are 10″ squares of quilting cotton packed together to make a gorgeous collection of matching fabrics.

You can use these Layer Cakes to make a variety of things! But today, let’s check out these pillows.

Created by Elizabeth Hartman, this pillows were designed to be made with her fabric “Pond” . As with all great fabric, “Pond” was available for a limited time and not all of the collection is still available. But what does live on is this fabulous pattern!

The free pattern can be used to make a throw pillow measuring 24 X 24. The color combinations are limited only by your imagination. If you need help, I have many different combinations on my Pinterest board “Quilt Colors”

To make one pillow you will need 12 – 10 inch squares. As most layer cakes come in packs of 24 to 42 squares, I am sure you want to make more that one. In addition to the squares you will need the following supplies:

I found a couple other collections that would look just as great as “Pond” to make your Layer Cake pillow. What do you think of these? (UPDATED: April, 2020)

  1. I loved the picture of April 12, 2019 – Layer Cake Pillow. I have tried to down load pattern several times. Each time I have been unable to so. Do you have any suggestions? Any help or guidance would be very appreciated. Thank you very much!

    1. It seems the pattern has been removed from the website. I have search everywhere for another link but was unable to find one. As a result, I uploaded the pattern to my site and sent you a copy via email.
