Today is Earth Day. On this day, we look at how we effect our planet. The theme for Earth Day 2019 is “Protect our Species”.
Human beings have irrevocably upset the balance of nature and, as a result, the world is facing the greatest rate of extinction. One of the biggest polluters of our planet is the plastics we use. Wrapping, plastic bags, etc. cause pollution of our oceans, water, and wildlife, and there is evidence that plastic waste is creating serious global problems.
So today, in honor of Earth Day, I collected a few free patterns that will help you reduce some of the plastic in your life.
As we try to be as environmentally conscious as possible, Lia Griffith offers you a free pattern for these DIY reusable produce bags. Take them with you to the grocery store or farmer’s market to avoid using plastic bags.
More and more grocery and department stores are starting to charge for plastic bags. Market bags are a viable option and there are literally thousands of free patterns out there for all kinds of market bags. Here are a few I found.
Fold and go (Yes it folds into that pocket) brought to you by the Ribbon Retreat
