Once again Caroline from She Can Sew has designed the most adorable little skirt. In the past you had to buy this pattern, but Caroline now graciously offers it for FREE on Bluprint. on her website!
The pattern includes instructions for you to make a girl’s ruffle skirt or skort for any little girl size 12 months to 8 years. Dress it up by adding a bow or additional ruffle trim. Make it a skirt, skort or baby skort with bloomers.
This pattern is designed for a beginner and very easy to make with the detailed instructions. All you need to know is how to cut out a pattern piece, how to gather (although the instructions help with this) and how to insert elastic. If you need extra help with gathering and elastic, Nana has instructions on these methods included in her pillowcase dress tutorial.
To make the girl’s Ruffle Skirt you will need the following supplies:
- 1/2 to 1 yd of main fabric depending on whether you are making a skirt or skort. Cotton fabric is suggested for best results. Or mix and match different fabrics for skirt/skort. Top/main ruffle. See the pics for ideas.
- 1″ elastic for waistband
- 1/4″ elastic for optional bloomers
- Ribbon if you desire a bow.
- About 1-1/2″ of 60″ knit fabric for the optional ruffle. (You can also use an old T-shirt)
