This polar bear baby mat was designed by Amy Gaines for Lion Brand yarns. Rated easy, even a beginning crocheter can make this. The finished size is approximately 16 x 33 inches.
The body, head, arms, feet and other details are all worked separately, then sewn together to make the mat. All the features are embroidered and the head, arms, and feet are stuffed making the mat super comfortable.
The pattern recommends using Lion Brand’s “Feels Like Butta” yarn. This Size 4 yarn has the velvety feel of chenille without chenille’s challenges. It is available in a pastel palette for babies as well as a fashion palette for adult garments and accessories that can be worn close to the skin.
Feels like Butta comes in a regular size skein or a larger Feels Like Butta Bonus Bundle.
To make the polar bear baby mat, you will need the following supplies:
- 2 Bonus Bundles of white and 1 Bonus Bundle of pale grey Lion Brand Feels Like Butta or equivalent Size 4 yarn.
- U.S. Size G-6 (4 mm) crochet hook
- Stitch markers
- Yarn needle
- Fiberfill stuffing
- Small amounts of pink (for cheeks) and black (for embroidery) worsted weight yarn
