Designed by Riley Blake Designs, the finished quilt measures 74″ x 74″. Want a queen size? Add another border!
The pattern is written for beginners and uses 80 flying geese blocks turned every which way, hence the name of the quilt. And it is simply quilted with an allover stipple to let the geometrics shine through.
Choose your favorite colors and start creating. If your stuck for colors, check out Nana’s Pinterest Board “Quilt Colors” for inspiration.
The pattern uses the basic method to make the flying geese block, however, there are a number of “no-waste” methods that make 4 blocks at a time. Suzy Quilts has a great tutorial on how to make flying geese using both methods.
NOTE: To use the “no-waste” method, you will cut your large squares to 9-1/4″ and small squares to 4-7/8″.
To make the Every Which Way Quilt using the basic method found in the pattern, you will need the following supplies:
- 2/3 yard each of 6 fabrics (coral, aqua, teal, black, charcoal, gray)
- 4 yards of background fabric
- 1-1/4 yds of fabric for border
- 3/4 yard of fabric for binding
- 6-1/2 yards of fabric for backing. For creative backing ideas see Nana’s post “Quilt Backing for Spectacular Quilts”
- Batting
- Coordinating thread
