Don’t you just love the colors and design of this cozy boho style blanket. The Runa Blanket was inspired by the traditional weaving designs of the American southwest and vintage Turkish rugs.
The blanket is made from 6 easy to make rectangles that are sewn together using the yarn tails. A single crochet border and tassels complete the bohemian look.

Designed by Susan Kennedy for I Like Crochet Magazine, the Runa Blanket uses the corner to corner (C2C) method to create the intricate design. The pattern includes both the written instructions and a chart making it easty to follow along. The finished blanket measures approximately 45″ x 66″.
If you are not familiar with C2C, it is one of Nana’s favorite methods of making blankets and very easy to learn. If you want some help, Nana has a tutorial for you to learn the C2C method.
The pattern uses Red Heart Hygge yarn. Hygge is an extremely soft and drapey size 5 bulky weight yarn made with a basic acrylic yarn that is twisted with a short fur end. The result is a lovely textured effect that is wonderful to work with. Colors are all calming, dusty tones perfect for fashion, accessories and home. Red Heart Hygge is available from Yarnspirations and LoveCrafts.
The Runa blanket uses 9 different colors. Using the chart below, you can easily change the colors to match your decor.
To make the Runa Blanket, you will need the following supplies:
- 24 – 5 oz. balls of Red Heart Hygge or equivalent Size 5 yarn in 9 different colors. (Watch – Hygge also comes in 8 oz balls)
- US size K/10½ (6.5 mm) crochet hook
- Yarn needle
