Hi Nana,
I downloaded the pattern, and maybe it’s just me, but I’m having trouble figuring out how wide the single front side pieces are supposed to be. The drawings are not to scale! The sleeve is 11.5″ deep (1/2 opening) and 7″ long (underarm to sleeve edge). But how wide is the portion from underarm to front edge??? and how wide is the entire back? I’m not using quilting fabric, but I did check the Connecting Threads site, and their quilting fabrics seem to all be 44″ wide. Are the front pieces each 22″ wide, and the back 44″ wide sleeve edge to sleeve edge? Any help you can offer will be gratefully received! I’ve been looking for a simple kimono pattern for a while, this one looks lovely, and the warm weather is coming…
Jeanne,
I apologize for the late reply. I have been travelling.
Yes, most quilting cottons are 44″ wide, therefore, the front pieces (1/2 the fabric) will be 22″ and the back 44″. For size Small, the instructions state to cut the fabric to 60 Inches x 38 inches. I am guessing that the instructions do not give the exact dimensions because some fabrics are only 42″ wide.
Let me know if you have any more questions.

Help. Can I make this without lining it? I have been given an overlocker so seams will be finished nicely. Do i just sandwich the main fabric between the folds of the banding, if that makes sense. In my head it will work. But im pretty inexperienced at clothes and I have bought some gorgeous hand printed fabric, so I do not want to mess it up!
Carla,
What you are suggesting should work. The pattern shows the two layers (kimono and lining) being sandwiched between the banding both at the arms and edges, so I do not see a problem with only one fabric being treated the same way. I would love to see your finished kimono. Tag me on instagram @whatnanamaking2019.
