Designed by Ariga Mahmoudlou for Robert Kaufman Fabrics, your finished dart quilt will measure approximately 59″ x 78″. Want it larger? Add a border using coordinating fabric yardage.
The quilt is made using one Robert Kaufman “roll-up” combined with a light neutral background fabric. “Roll-ups” are collections of 2 1/2″ x 42″ strips of fabric produced by Robert Kaufman fabrics and typically include 40 strips of fabric. Other fabric manufacturers offer similar products such as Jelly Rolls, Pops, Rolie Polies, and Strip Sets.
Take care when purchasing because not all bundles include 40 strips. To make this quilt, you will need 25 different strips. Mix and match the strips to create the pattern you desire.
To make the dart quilt, you will need the following supplies:
- One roll-up of your choice that contains at least 25 strips
- 2-3/4 yards of fabric for background
- 5/8 yard of fabric for binding
- 5 yards of fabric for backing – for ideas on how to back your quilt, see Nana’s post on “Quilt Backing for Spectacular Quilts”
- Twin size batting
- Coordinating thread
