Designed by Connie Haney of Bee Happy Designs, the steering wheel wreaths are fast and easy to crochet so you can make one for all of your friends and family this year! Ms. Haney includes instructions on how to measure your steering wheel to obtain the perfect fit!
Connie has written both a crochet pattern and a knitting pattern for these steering wheel covers. I have included a picture of the knit version so you can get an idea of how the use of different yarn can change the appearance of the cover.
The candy cane is made with Bernat Happy Holiday yarn. This yarn is usually only available at certain times of the year but you may substitute any Size 4 yarn in its place. This Caron Simply Soft Party yarn is a great substitute if you want the sparkle.
The recommended yarn for the green wreath has been discontinued but you may use any textured yarn such as Red Heart Hygge in Forest Green or Lion Brand Homespun in Malachite.
To make the Steering Wheel Wreaths, you will need the following supplies:
- 1 skein each Size 4 yarn in Red and White for the Candy Cane wreath OR
- 2 skeins of green textured Size 4 yarn for the wreath
- Size H/8 (5.00 mm) Crochet Hook
- 1 yd. of satin ribbon 1½“ to 2” wide OR
- 1 skein of contrasting size 4 yarn to make your own crocheted bow
- Yarn Needle
