To celebrate Granny Square Day 2020, Simply Crochet Magazine issued this gorgeous Granny Square Fringed Top for FREE! This pattern by Emma Leith comes in 4 sizes – 8/10, 12/14, 16/18 and 20/22. This pattern is written in UK terminology but you can easily convert it to US terms using the handy chart provided.
The pattern uses Erica Knight Studio Linen Yarn. Made of 85% recycled linen, and blended with 15% premium natural linen, the fibers of this yarn are twisted and dyed in Italy, creating a unique look and feel. The cool, calming range of shades will work perfectly for contemporary designs such as loose-knit sweaters and asymmetrical cardigans.
You may substitute your favorite DK (Size 3) yarn, however, if you plan to use a substitute yarn, get helpful hints from Nana on how to successfully substitute yarns in this post.
NANA is making this one and has already ordered Drops Belle yarn from Etsy. I have never used this yarn so will post a review on the yarn and pattern on What’s Nana Making later this year.
To make the Granny Square Fringed Top, you will need the following supplies:
- 3-5 skeins (depending on size) of DK yarn in your main color (white)
- 1 skein of each 3 separate contrasting colors (light grey, dark grey and blue)
- US size G/6 (4mm) crochet hook
- Stitch markers
