Designed by Tilda Fabrics, the pattern is rated for a moderate quilter only because of the applique. If you need help with your applique skills, check out Nana’s “How to Applique” post.
This quilt is made up of three different blocks: a small snowman block in five different colorways, a large snowman block in a single colorway and a heart block in six different colorways. This quilt was made with the Tilda Classic Basics collection. Unfortunately, this collection has been discontinued but the snowman would look fabulous in any softly colored, vintage style fabric.
The finished size of your quilt will measure approximately 52½in x 71in (133.3cm x 180.3cm). Just the right size to cuddle up by the fire.
Designed as a companion to the Happy Winter Snowman Quilt, there is also a free pattern for this Matching Pillow. which features five of the snowman blocks from the quilt. The pillow measures approximately 38in x 18in (96.5cm x 45.7cm).

To make the Happy Winter Snowman Quilt, you will need the following supplies:
- Various Fat Quarter, Fat Eighths for the Snowmen and Hearts
- 2-3/4 yd of Background Fabric
- 3½ yd Backing fabric
- 1/2 yd of fabric for binding
- 61in x 79½ in batting
- 18 – 1/2 inch buttons
- 18 – 3/4 inch buttons
- Black stranded embroidery cotton (floss) for embroidering eyes
- Removable fabric marker
- Coordinating thread
The best place to buy fat quarter and fat eighth bundles is the Fat Quarter Shop. They have an excellent selection of the newest collections. If you can’t find a collection that you want and need individual fat quarters check out ETSY. There are many sellers that will have fat quarters and you only have to buy one!!
