Each November, poppies bloom on the lapels and collars of millions of people around the world to honor our fallen soldiers. So it seemed fitting to start November off with a free crocheted poppy pattern.
You may choose to make a single red crocheted Poppy to wear as a Remembrance pin or add them to a wreath. This pattern is so easy to make, you may want to make one for all your friends and family to wear this Veteran’s Day (Remembrance Day for us Canadians).
The poppy became popular as a symbol of remembrance after World War I when on the 11th day or the 11th month at the 11th hour the guns grew silent and the war was over. A Canadian military surgeon, Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae, wrote this poem and the poppy became a symbol of remembrance.
OR, if you simply love poppies, make a bouquet in colors of your choice!
Roseanna from Moara Crochet was kind enough to develop and share this crochet poppy pattern with us. Although there are many patterns out there, this one seemed a little more realistic.
To make the crocheted poppy, you will need the following supplies:

How to wear your crochet poppy
Attach your poppy to a brooch pin and wear it with pride. Many people say you should wear it on the left side of your coat or clothes, showing that you keep those who died close to your heart. It’s also the side that military medals are worn on.
