Afghans!! There are lots of patterns out there and it is easy to create your own, but today Nana presents – the Winter Nights afghan. This afghan works up in a chevron pattern quickly using double strands of yarn and a large hook.
Winter Nights is aptly named because this afghan twinkles in the moonlight!

Designed by Erica Jackofsky in her journey to make 80 blankets for her winter wedding, the finished afghan measures 40″ x 50″, however the size is easily adjusted. You can follow Erica’s journey through Instagram at #80blankets.
The pattern uses both Winter Nights yarn and Feels Like Butta yarn both available from Lion Brand. Winter Nights is a worsted weight (Size 4) yarn made from an Acrylic/Polyester blend. Small iridescent sequins glint along the lofty strand of this yarn, like sparkling stars tucked between clouds on winter nights. Pair Winter Nights yarn with simple stitches and let the yarn shine.
Winter Nights has been paired with Feels Like Butta yarn another worsted (Size 4) yarn. Feels Like Butta has the velvety touch of chenille without chenille’s challenges. This yarn is available in a pastel palette for babies as well as a fashion palette for adult garments and accessories that can be worn close to the skin. Comes in regular 100 gram (3.5 oz) balls or the bonus bundle size consisting of 9.7 oz (375 grams).
To make the Winter Nights afghan as shown, you will need the following supplies:
- 1 skein Feels Like Butta Bonus Bundle in Ice or equivalent Size 4 yarn
- 3 cakes Winter Nights in Blanc
- 1 cake Winter Nights in Bluetiful
- US Size P-15 (10mm) crochet hook
- Size 11.5 mm crochet hook (optional for chain)
