Designed by Hannah Owens from not your average crochet this stripey blanket pattern is very versatile as you can use this pattern to make your blanket in any size or color. For ideas, you can find over one thousand finished blankets by logging into Ravelry then clicking THIS LINK.
The eleven balls of yarn indicated in the pattern will make a throw approx. 50 x 60 inches. You can change the size by adding or subtracting stitches and rows.
The designer used 11 balls of Stylecraft Special DK yarn, but having seen some of the finished projects, these afghans were made using a number of types of yarn including:
- Red Heart Super Saver
- Caron Simply Soft
- Paintbox Simply DK – (Nana’s favorite)
- Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn
- Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice
In addition to the yarn, you will also need a US size H/8 (5.00 mm) crochet hook. Most of the people who made this pattern recommend using a larger hook for the “Catherine’s” wheel and star stitches. Some of the above mentioned yarns are Size 4 which is a heavier yarn. You may wish to change your hook size to a 7mm. Also remember, this will make your blanket larger.
