As I mentioned in my previous post, my home town is experiencing extremely cold weather. For the more experienced crocheters this crocheted Nordic Stripes Blanket will make a beautiful blanket to have in your home.
With easy stripes and challenging colorwork, this Nordic-inspired crochet blanket has enough variation to keep you interested as you work.

The pattern was designed by Yarnspirations and was written for more experienced crocheters. Techniques include interlocking crochet, working in front of stitches in rows below, single crochet and more. When finished, the blanket measures approximately 41½” x 56½”. Perfect for snuggling on the couch on a cold winters day.
The pattern was originally designed to be made with Red Heart Heat Wave yarn. Unfortunately, this yarn has been discontinued but you may substitute your favorite Size 4 yarn to make the blanket. One of my favorites, Paintbox Yarn Simply Aran is a great match. It is economical and it comes in 55 different colors. You can check out my review for more information. Other suggested substitutes include Red Heart SuperSaver, Lion Brand Wool Ease or Caron One Pound.
The Crochet Crowd developed both a left-handed and right handed video tutorial to help with the mosaic stitches.
To make the Nordic Stripes Blanket, you will need the following supplies:
- Approximately 400 yards of Color A Size 4 yarn
- Approximately 400 yards of Color B Size 4 yarn
- Approximately 1400 yards of Color C Size 4 yarn
- Approximately 1000 yards of Color D Size 4 yarn
- Size H/8 (5mm) crochet hook
