Show your love of all things Red, White, and Blue with The Heart of America quilt. In addition, this quilt is also the right size and design to be sewn and gifted as a Quilt of Valor (see below).
Although the beautiful Heart of America Quilt pays homage to the United States of America, changing fabrics and colors would make this a beautiful addition to any home.

The quilt is exclusive to the Fat Quarter Shop and is a beautiful medallion design that finishes at 60.5″ x 70.5″ Throughout the month of March, 2024, the Fat Quarter Shop will feature this quilt in a four part quilt-a-long. You can find everything you need to join the quilt-along by clicking here including a quilt kit and backing set.
The pattern uses A LOT of half square triangles (HST). Some quilters find it easier to use the half-square triangle paper. But after years of making HST’s one at a time, I learned that you can make this great little squares 2 or 4 even EIGHT at a time! Check out my post on how to make fast and easy HST’s. Hint – scroll down a bit to find that section.
As a bonus, this quilts meets the size and design requirements to be a Quilt of Valor! A Quilt of Valor is a quality, handmade quilt that is machine or hand quilted. It is awarded to a Service Member or Veteran who has been touched by war. The Quilt says unequivocally, “Thank you for your service and sacrifice in serving our nation.” To find out more about the Quilts of Valor organization, click here.
