Fall River Shawl – Crochet pattern

UPDATE: This pattern is no longer free. If you love the pattern it is still available for purchase in the link below.

The Fall River shawl is a feminine triangle-shaped shawl that can be made with any yarn weight from Thread to DK.

Light and lacy this shawl was designed for every occasion. Easy to make even for a beginner!

This pattern, rated for the beginner, was designed by Katya Novikova and is worked top-down. Puff stitches add nice volume to the light lacy fabric. The Finished size is approximately 73.5” x 35.5” but the size is easily adjustable by changing the weight of your yarn.

The original pattern is made with fingering weight yarn, however, you may use any weight from thread to DK. Remember to adjust your hook size to suit the yarn. Using a smaller yarn will make a smaller shawl while a higher weight yarn will result in a much larger sized garment.

I had some trouble finding the yarn used in the pattern, so as an alternative, may I recommend using Scheepjes Whirl yarn. This yarn is available in a vibrant range of self-striping colorways, it’s perfect for stand-out summer shawls or scarves.

To make the Fall River shawl, you will need the following supplies:

  • 2 skeins – 920 yards (840 meters) of any Fingering weight yarn
  • Size E/4 (3.5 mm) crochet hook
