Designed by Kim Diehl for Henry Glass Fabrics, this pattern creates a fabulous lap-size quilt measuring approximately 56″ x 64″ when complete. The trimmed corner patches are saved and repurposed into a matching pillow measuring 18″ x 18″.
The simple pattern can easily be adjusted to make any size quilt.
The quilt, as pictured, was made using fabrics from the Fresh & Fab collection from Henry Glass. As of today, this collection is still available in the Fat Quarter Shop.
This pattern is so versatile, you could make it in any of your favorite collections to match your taste and decor.
To make the Fresh and Fab quilt and two throw pillows, you will need the following supplies:
- Assorted fabrics to make 98 rectangles 4-1/2″ x 12-1/2″ plus 28 rectangles 4-1/2″ x 6-1/2″. The pattern suggests using 1/3 yd of 22 different fabrics, however, based on my calculations, you may easily use fat quarters! Don’t be afraid to change the orientation of the rectangles to create interest.
- 2/3 yd of fabric for binding
- 5 yds of fabric for backing – for ideas on backing see Nana’s post on options for creating spectacular quilt backs
- Twin-size batting should be enough for both the quilt and pillows.
- 2/3 yd of muslin for pillow lining
- 18″ x 18″ pillow form
- Coordinating thread
- Liquid seam sealant
