This baby blanket with strong and harmonious colours was designed by Carmen Heffernan for Anchor Crafts. When finished, this blanket will measure approximately 24 x 35 inches (61 x 89 cm.)
The original pattern uses Anchor Baby Pure Cotton yarn. This yarn is made from 100 % cotton, natural, combed and not mercerised. It is hypoallergenic and saliva resistant to be entirely safe for the new-born. Delicate and soft to the touch, Anchor Baby Pure Cotton is kind and gentle to babies sensitive skin, leaving them happy, calm and contented.
Anchor Baby Pure Cotton offers 24 specially selected, soft powdered or pastel shades from which to choose, for modern fashion as well as quick and easy projects to decorate baby’s room.
Because gauge is not important to this pattern, feel free to use your favorite 4 ply Fingering or baby yarn. 4-ply fingering yarn is the second-lightest of all yarns and is only a little heavier than lace-weight. Fingering yarn is great for making delicate shawls, soft baby makes and fine knit sweaters. One good substitute that I found is Bernat Baby Softee yarn. You may also use a heavier yarn , however, don’t forget to adjust the size of your hook. A heavier yarn will make a slightly larger blanket.
To make the rainbow baby blanket, you will need the following supplies:
- 3 balls (540 yds or 495 meters) of Anchor Baby Pure cotton or equivalent yarn in main color
- 1 ball EACH of 6 different colors for the rainbow.
- Size G/6 (4mm) crochet hook
- Yarn needle
