Men’s Belt Holder – FREE Crochet Pattern

A favorite for Father’s Day, this men’s belt holder makes a cute addition to any man’s closet. Stay neat and tidy with a decorative belt holder!

My dear husband calls his belt holder, Andy! Andy proudly hangs on the bedroom door and holds up to 15 belts. Andy makes a great gift for those “hard to buy for” men on your list.

This is a classic pattern designed by Cynthia Harris for Crochet to Go magazine back in 1998 that still remains popular today!! The finished belt holder measures 12 1/2″ tall without hanger when complete.

The belt holder is crocheted around a plastic clothes hanger using worsted weight (Size 4) yarn. I found that cotton yarns work best as they are less stretchy. Some suggestions would be Lion Brand 24/7 yarn, Paintbox Simply Cotton Aran, or Bernat Handicrafter

To make this belt holder as pictured, you will need the following supplies:

  • 5 balls (8 oz.) of blue Size 4 worsted weight yarn
  • 1 ball white Size 4 yarn
  • 1 ball of skin-toned Size 4 yarn (Lion Brand has the perfect new yarn called Skein Tones)
  • Small amount of brown yarn for hair
  • Small amount of burgundy yarn for tie and handkerchief
  • Stuffing
  • Two 12″ x 16″ pieces of heavy cardboard
  • Adult size plastic hanger
  • Two 1/2 inch round buttons for eyes
  • Three 3/4″ buttons for suit
  • Fifteen 1/2″ flat buttons for belt loops.
  • US size G-6 (4.0 mm) crochet hook
  • Yarn needle

You will also need a small saw and a paper punch.
