In keeping with this week’s Valentine theme, Nana found this lovely Sweetheart Sweater. This crocheted sweater is made with light weight yarn that has a skill level of intermediate.

Designed by Lion Brand Yarns, the lovely texture is created by using the front and back loops, a ridge stitch and a puff stitch. The pattern has detailed explanation on each of these stitches but if you need help click the links below to Nana’s instructions and videos.
- Crocheting in the front/back loops
- Crocheting a puff stitch – Note: Nana’s instructions show a puff stitch using 7 loops while the pattern uses 9 loops. Simply add two more loops before pulling the yarn through.
The designer used Lion Brand Baby Alpaca yarn. Baby Alpaca yarn is an ultra soft Size 3 luxury yarn that comes in 12 beautiful shades. It is a bit pricey, but it will add warmth and sophistication to your sweater. If you wish to substitute yarn, you can use your favorite Size 3 yarn. To make the Sweetheart Sweater, you will need the following supplies:
- LION BRAND LB COLLECTION BABY ALPACA – 11 (12, 13, 15, 18, 19) balls depending on size
- Crochet hook size D-3 (3.25 mm)
- Crochet hook size G-6 (4 mm)
- stitch markers
- yarn needle
The Sweetheart Sweater can also be purchased as a kit complete with everything you need to complete the sweater.
