The fabric used in this quilt pattern is “Wayside” by Robert Kaufman Fabrics which is due to be released any day now. (May 2019). You can add yourself to a notification list HERE

The pattern was first issued using the Chalk and Charcoal fabric collection and has been recently updated for the Wayside Collection.

The modern quilt made using the Chalk and Charcoal collection

What makes this quilt dynamic is the black and white half square triangles that form the point. Personally, I think the quilt looks much better in the new Wayside fabric proving it would look great in a variety of light and dark color combinations as long as you keep the black and white feature.

To make the Modern Quilt you will need the following supplies:

  • 2 jelly rolls (they should be the same collection)
  • 1/3 yard of white fabric
  • 1/3 yard of black fabric
  • 5/8 yard of fabric for binding
  • 3-1/4 yards of 45″ fabric for backing or 1-2/3 of 108″ backing fabric
  • Twin size batting
  • Coordinating thread

I hope you enjoy making this Modern Quilt. Let me know how yours turned out in the comments. And don’t forget to share!!
