Crochet a flurry of magical snowflakes to keep you cozy when there’s a chill in the air. This crocheted snowflake throw is made from 12 squares that are beautifully arranged as shown, then joined together with a border.

This is a great take-with-you crochet throw project that will fit perfectly in any room.

Designed by Jessie Rayot for Red Heart yarns, this throw measures 41” wide x 50” long perfect for snuggling but if you want to make it larger simply make more squares!! The pattern can very easily be adapted to change the size.

The pattern uses Red Heart With Love yarn. Red Heart With Love yarn is an ultra-soft premium acrylic worsted weight (Size 4) yarn. This yarn comes in over 50 beautiful solid, variegated and self-striping shades. It is easy care yarn, as it can be washed and dried. It is perfect for blankets, throws, hats, scarves and more. Red Heart With Love yarn can be purchased at Yarnspirations or on the LoveCrafts website.

Although the pattern indicates a gauge, gauge is not important when crocheting throws. Therefore, you can substitute any yarn you wish in this pattern. Just remember different yarns (or hook size) may create a different size throw. To make the crocheted snowflake throw as shown, you will need the following supplies:

  • 2 skeins of RED HEART With Love or equivalent Size 4 yarn in white for snowflakes and popcorn border
  • 1 skein each of three of your favorite colors for backgrounds and small borders. The pattern uses Holly Berry, Pewter and Hot Pink
  • US J-10 (6.0 mm) Crochet Hook
  • Yarn needle
  • Stitch marker (optional)
